By listening to someones authentic story you get to know the storyteller (better). And the storyteller gets to know the listener by the way he or she listens and reacts to the story. This is why a human library offers people who are new to each other such a good opportunity to get to know one another.

Prior to being a book; in the human library you will first be trained by experienced storytellers in how to build up and deliver your story in an engaging way. This training will take two 3-hour sessions, during which you will work in small groups and one or two individual coaching sessions. Nobody participating in this project as a human book needs to worry about telling her or his story. Believe us … everybody can do it!
Once you feel confident about sharing your story you will be offered a stage in a human library during a small scale festival on the Notweg in Amsterdam New West that will be organised by the Beach and the Lucas Community. In an intimate setting you will share your story with one, maybe two listeners at a time.
