Dutch supermarkets dispose EUR600 million of edible food that expires the ‘best before’ date.
The idea is to use vegetables and fruits that run close to the ‘best before’ date and produce juice and soup from it.
Benefits:
• Supermarkets do not have to pay for the disposal of their vegetables and fruits.
• Food producing companies get cheap resources to fabricate healthy and nutritious food.
• The recognizable packaging and make consumers aware of food waste and empower people to do something about it themselves.
The winning team already contracted a supermarket and food producer to cooperate.
